From the beginning

I am going to post some of my earlier photos, then work forward.

I hope you won't get bored. But, after all, isn't a blog for the blogger?

Enjoy the Adventure in my Photography!

I bought this rose bush from Walmart in the spring of 2000. I had a lot of fun  babying it.

The name of this rose is "Twice Spice."

As you can see, I had the same problem most first time photographers have: It "had to be centered".

I took this one in the middle of the day, too much exposure.

Sage in Bloom.
Again, taken in the middle of the day. Not a very good composition.
A little better composition.
All of these photos were taken with a HP camera; a general point and shoot. I

Graduation to a DSLR

I have used a point & shoot camera most of my life. I have used an HP in the past. Then an Olympus. My last P&S camera was a Canon A490. It has been a great camera, but I wasn't completely satisfied with my photos.

I had been researching and studying online about a DSLR. After two years of research and following my intuition, I went to Best Buy to check out the cameras they had. I came out with the Canon EOS SL1 package. It contained the EFS 18-35 zoom lens, the EF 75-300 telephoto zoom lens, which also takes MACRO shots. The bundle also had the gear bag, battery pack, 32GB SDHC Plus memory card.

I purchased a Targus tripod also. I have discovered it is too short for me, so I am looking at the Sunpack 6601 Tripod/Monopod combo.
